Best Kitchen Chimney in India

If you want to read the complete article then here are my top 10 selections that you can pick from this table as well.

What to look for when buying a kitchen chimney?

Although I already have made a post related to buying guide for kitchen chimneys but here are some points that I want to mention here as well.

Baffle Filter Vs. Filterless

You should know about the difference between baffle filter chimney and filterless as well. These are the two most common types that are currently selling in the Indian market. However, both have their own pros and cons so that’s why it is necessary to consider this first.

I will celebrate both types so you can get a better idea about what you should pick.

Baffle Filter Chimney

This is the type of chimney that has a filter inside the hood. These filters are usually made up of stainless steel or aluminum. The function of these filters is simple they filter out the smoke.

So what happened is when you cook something smoky and oily, the smoke containing oil droplets goes through these filters. So these filters soak the oil and let the dry smoke go through the duct.

It is one of the most using chimneys in India because we usually fry a lot in our kitchens.

Pros
  • Easy to clean
  • Soak all the oil droplets easily
  • Good for Indian kitchens
Cons
  • Required cleaning after every 6 months

Filterless Chimney

As its name shows that this kind of chimney does not have any filter. It comes with a hood and duct system and that’s it. And what about oil build-up? Well, this chimney does not use any filter to soak the oil from the smoke. So that oil goes directly through the duct pipe and it gets stuck there.

In order to clean the chimney, there is a built-in auto-clean system that heats the ducting areas and the chamber so the oil starts to melt and it goes down in an oil collector tray. Now you can simply pull out the tray and wash it.

Pros
  • No need to clean
  • Auto-clean technology
  • Low maintenance
  • Perfect for Indian kitchens
Cons
  • Some units come at high prices

So these are the most common and important factors that you should keep in mind when you pick the chimney that is perfect for your kitchen.

That’s why I have added both types of units in my review and you can choose the accordingly.

1) Elica 90 cm Baffle Filter Kitchen Chimney

Specifications

  • Brand : Elica
  • Finish Type : Black
  • Material : Glass
  • Suction Capability : 1425 m3/hr
Pros
  • Dual baffle filters
  • Low noise operation
  • Impressive suction quality
  • Easy to operate
Cons
  • Installation is not free

What do recent buyers say?

The average customer rating review of this chimney has five stars. Most of the customers are happy with their purchases. They also marked this unit as the best value for the money.

What sets it apart from others?

The design is pretty cool and the curved glass looks perfect as well. And it has a suction capacity of 1425 cubic meters per hour which is by far the very high suction capacity in the Indian market.

As this is the best baffle filter chimney so it comes with two baffle filters. One is good but two are better. Thes filters are made up of stainless steel so they will last longer. Moreover, you can just pull out the filters and wash them in the dishwasher or anywhere you want.

Another good thing is it comes with a motion sensor feature. So now if you are busy kneading the dough or you are cooking something on the gas stove, the chimney will automatically switch on and off and do its work. All you have to do is wave your hand in front of the sensors and they will do the rest.

Besides the baffle filters, there is also an auto-clean function that is a savior for every woman. The auto-clean feature uses a heating rod to melt down the oil that is build-up on the filters and it drains it into the oil collector tray.

So you can simply wash the tray and your chimney is ready to suck again. The motor operates on 220w which is good because it will produce less noise. If the wattage will be less then the motor will operate with more pressure and thus make a high noise.

The noise level of this unit is only 58 dB and it is almost quiet so you can bake, cook and fry in a peaceful environment.

The build material is also very tough and durable as it weighs 14.3 kg. So you can get an idea that the build material is not of low quality.

What do I like?

Elica is a brand that is surely popular when we talk about kitchenware or home appliances. They are making amazing and quality products for a long time and the customer feedback of Elica is rated as good.

And what I like the most about this product is its suction capacity. With 1425 CMH capacity, this unit sucks all the smoke, oil, and even dust from your kitchen. So it’s a good thing.

Moreover, you can also test the suction power by just blowing up a match stick under the hood and letting the smoke spread all over. Now turn on the suction unit and see the magic.

I tried to test the customer support of Elica so I called them (18002330007) from different numbers and ask them to install chimneys in different areas. And their response was good.

The auto-clean function is a blessing in disguise because it saves you from the tedious task of cleaning the filters manually. All you have to do is just empty the oil collector tray after some time and your chimney is as good as new.

Comparison with 1200 m3/hr version

This unit comes in two versions. One is 1425 m3/hr while the other is 1200 m3/hr. Let’s see what are the differences.

What are the drawbacks?

The installation is not free. Also, if your kitchen is big then the built-in installation kit is not going to be sufficient for you. And you have to buy an additional kit worth Rs. 1200.

2) Faber 90 cm Baffle Filter Chimney (HC SC BK 90)

Specifications

  • Brand : Faber
  • Finish Type : Black
  • Material : Glass
  • Mounting Type : Wall Mount
Pros
  • Massive suction power
  • Dual LED lights
  • 3x speed settings
  • Comes with an oil collector tray
Cons
  • Only one baffle filter

What do recent buyers say?

Customers are enjoying the chimney features and they are pleased as well. Customers are saying that the price is under budget, noise levels are not so high and the premium look is best for fancy kitchens.

What sets it apart from others?

I have previously reviewed the Elica 90 cm chimney that has a suction power of 1425, but this black beauty has a bigger mouth with 1500 cubic meters per hour.

I don’t think that any user is going to complain about the suction vacuum ability. Even if you have a big home with a big kitchen then this is still the best pick for you.

The most amazing thing about this product is that it has a touch control panel. The sensitivity of the panel is very high. You just put your finger on it and it’s active.

However, it has a huge suction capacity, if you want to run this unit on a lower power then there are three power phases labeled on the panel. So you can set it according to your needs.

This unit also has a motion sensor capability so which means you can push it up and down while only moving your fingers in the air.

For the installation, the kit comes with the package so you don’t have to buy them separately.

What do I like?

Of course, the first thing I liked is none other than the suction power or I should say ultimate power. However, it produces a slight noise but with great power of suction, I can neglect that noise for sure.

The motor quality is also very good. As the motor is doing a poundage job so it consists of pure copper and there is a 5-year of warranty from Faber as well.

Similar to Elica, I also test the support of Faber and I call them on this number (18002007577). And their response was satisfactory.

What are the drawbacks?

I was expecting that the motor should be high wattage because it is delivering a huge power of suction. But the wattage of the motor is only 180w. So when you put it in the highest settings, the motor gives noise.

Another thing that I miss in this chimney is the baffle filter. We have seen two baffle filters in Elica but here is only one.

3) Glen Senza 90 cm Filterless Kitchen Chimney

Specifications

  • Brand : Glen
  • Finish Type : GPSP Painted/Glass
  • Material : Stainless steel
  • Mounting Type : Wall Mount
Pros
  • Solid build quality
  • 100% copper winding motor
  • Filterless technology
  • Less noise
Cons
  • Customer service is average
  • No installation kit inside the box

What do recent buyers say?

The majority of the users are giving above the 4-star ratings. Users are in satisfaction due to the high-quality build material, long-lasting curved glass, and advanced features.

However, there are few customers who are saying that Glen should introduce more color options in this model.

What sets it apart from others?

The very first thing that sets it apart from others is its filterless technology. As I mentioned at the beginning of the article that there are two major kinds of chimneys in India.

One is the baffle filter whilst the other one is filterless. You have already seen two chimneys above that have baffle filter technology. And that’s why they come with baffle filters that you need to wash after every 6 months.

While Glen Senza is not required any maintenance and cleaning periodically. It does not have any filters so no filters mean no need to pull them out and wash them.

It comes with an oil collector tray that collects all the oil remains. And it is easy to wash it as well.

Another thing that makes it different is its copper winding motor. As you know copper is a better electric conductor compared to silver. So a copper motor means it will work more efficiently and last longer. Not only last longer, but it will also save electricity.

Plus, it has an additional overheating safety device that keeps the motor working for a long time by preventing it from overheating.

The motor operates on 212 watts so there is no such level of noise as we have seen in the Faber.

What do I like?

Believe me, washing the filters make me cry. I know they are easy to wash but it is something that I do not like so that’s why I like the filterless technology in this unit.

The weight of the unit is 22Kg which reflects that the material that the manufacturer uses in this unit is of high quality.

I do not like to see any visible part of the chimney in my kitchen and that’s why I like the fact that it has curved glass. It makes the chimney look stylish and sleek.

This Glen kitchen chimney is the wall-mounted type and I think it is the best position for a chimney in your kitchen as it will not take up any countertop space.

What are the drawbacks?

It does not come with an installation kit so you have to spend Rs. 1200 extra to buy it.

Another thing, while I was testing the service team of the Glen, I asked them to install the chimney in a tier-two area and they asked me for travel rent. However, in Metros, you don’t have to pay the travel fare.

4) Hindware Nadia 90 cm (‎C100221)

Specifications

  • Brand : Hindware
  • Finish Type : Black
  • Material : Stainless steel
  • Mounting Type : Wall Mount
Pros
  • Easy to clean oil collector tray
  • Good suction capacity
  • Great matt black finish look
  • Thermal heat auto-clean feature
Cons
  • The motion sensors may lag over time
  • The product warranty is only 1 year

What do recent buyers say?

Nearly 80% of the customers are giving high ratings. However, some users are complaining about the whole body is not stainless steel. Some parts of the chimney are made up of iron.

What sets it apart from others?

The thermal auto-clean function is the first check mark for this unit. The heating element that is located inside the chamber of the unit is able to heat up the chamber walls so all the sticky oil and grease can be loosened up. After that, the oil and grease will be drained out through a pipe and goes to the oil collector tray.

The oil collector tray is also made up of stainless steel and it is very easy to open it and clean.

In terms of suction power, it has an impressive 1200 m3/hr which is more than enough for most kitchens in India. If your kitchen is on the larger side, then you might want to check out other models like Elica 90 cm with 1425 m3/hr and Faber 90 cm with 1500 m3/hr suction capacity.

As for the noise level, Hindware claims that it has only a 32dB noise level. But in my perception, I think it is more than 32dB. I guess it will be around 50 to 52dB which is also very impressive. So you are not going to mess with noise and loudness.

The motor wattage is 170w and it runs 1200 m3/hr suction so that’s the reason it does not shout when blowing.

What do I like?

The prominent thing is the low noise for sure. I have tested so many chimneys and they all have some level of noise. But this unit is great in terms of noise.

I like the design too. It looks modern and sleek. The stainless steel material makes it look even more premium.

The suction power is also great for medium to large kitchens. If your kitchen is on the smaller side, then you can go for a lower suction power model like Faber 60 cm with 1000 m3/hr.

What are the drawbacks?

The motion sensor works like a charm but after some time of continuous use, it lags sometimes.

This is to inform you that you may also face lags after using it for 4 to 5 months. Other than that, the overall performance of this unit is satisfactory for me.

5) Faber 90 cm (HOOD ORIENT XPRESS)

Specifications

  • Brand : Hindware
  • Finish Type : Black
  • Material : Stainless steel
  • Mounting Type : Wall Mount
Pros
  • Tempered glass hood
  • Customer support is good
  • 5 years motor warranty
Cons
  • Suction capacity could be better
  • Rs. 1200 for the installation kit

What do recent buyers say?

Customers are praising customer support. Some customer says that we called the Faber and asked them to solve the issues of their chimneys whilst they told that they have been out of the warranty period.

But the support team cooperated with them and took only Rs. 400 service charges and do their job.

What sets it apart from others?

First of all, the name speaks for itself. The design of this chimney is inspired by the Orient Express passenger train that was introduced in 1883. This gives the chimney a sleek and stylish look that is sure to complement any contemporary kitchen.

It also has an advanced auto-clean function that keeps the filter clean and free of grease build-up. This ensures that your kitchen always remains smoke and odor-free.

However the speed of suction is less as compared to baffle filter chimneys but one thing that I must clarify here is, that in baffle filter chimneys, the motor needs to suck more as there are filters between the motor suction and the smoke.

However, in the case of filterless chimneys as there is no filter between the motor and the smoke, so the motor doesn’t need to do much hard work in order to suck all the smoke which eventually results in low noise and good suction even with low suction power.

What do I like?

Similar to customers, I also like customer support. They are cooperative and take care of their customers.

The warranty on the motor is 5 years so you can get peace of mind.

I also like the fact that it comes with an advanced auto-clean function. This ensures that your kitchen always remains smoke and odor-free.

The hood is made up of high-quality tempered glass. As you know this type of glass is used in car windshields as it doesn’t break easily.

So, if you have kids at home then also you don’t need to worry about them as the chances of breakage are very less.

What are the drawbacks?

The noise level is a bit high as compared to other chimneys available in the market. The suction power could be better. Also, it does not come with an installation kit so be ready to pay Rs. 1200 extra.

  • Filterless technology
  • 1400 m3/h suction power

All the whistles and bells that a high-end product offers are available in this range of Kutchina Chimneys. It is loaded with features, made of superior quality materials, and also comes with an attractive design that can complement any kitchen interior.

Because it’s a premium chimney that comes with a higher price. Therefore, some customers are thinking that the price could be a bit less.

What sets it apart from others?

So far, I mentioned the 5 chimneys. Some of them are filterless while some are baffle filter types. This chimney is a premium one that has some more advanced-level features.

First of all, this chimney is filterless and it also comes with 1400 cubic meters per hour suction credibility. As there are no filters thus it can such more efficient.

The black color gives it an edgy look and the power consumption is just 304 watts. The motor is alloy and has copper winding. The warranty is for 10 years which is great news for the customers.

Did I mention the white tempted glass? Well, a thick and quality assurance tempered glass is making the curve top of this chimney.

The control panel is based on a digital screen where you can see all the settings. The controls are very easy to operate and you can do it without any problem.

The detachable oil collector is another useful feature that ensures the kitchen stays clean and hygienic.

In terms of noise, it’s very silent as it uses German technology. So, you won’t be bothered by any kind of noise while cooking. It only produces the 42 dB noise.

The product is ISI certified and comes with a great reputation in the market.

What do I like?

I really liked the design and finish of this chimney. The black color with white tempted glass looks amazing.

The suction power is very good and it does not make any noise.

It’s a premium product that comes with lots of features and a very good lifetime warranty (ten years) period.

What are the drawbacks?

The price is on the higher side but it’s justified because of the quality and features it offers. You will need professional help with the installation process.

7) BLOWHOT Kitchen Chimney 60 Cm Electra S BPC

Specifications

  • Brand : BlowHot
  • Finish Type : Black
  • Material : Stainless steel
  • Mounting Type : Wall Mount
Pros
  • The warranty is very good
  • Two LED lamps
  • Good customer support
Cons

Recent buyers are happy with the long-time warranty. BLOWHOT is offering 12 years of motor warranty which is insane. Also, the support team is very good and they offer a money-back guarantee for their repairs.

What sets it apart from others?

There are numerous features that set it apart from other baffle filter chimneys. The very first thing is the 12 years of motor warranty. You can not neglect these great features if you are looking for a durable product.

The stainless steel body makes it corrosion resistant and the aluminum motor with copper winding ensures long life and smooth performance.

The design looks very sleek and the dimensions are compact. The push-button controls make it easy to operate. The grease and oil collector is dishwasher safe which makes it easy to clean.

The noise level is just 56 dB which is pretty good. The product comes with installation clips and a flexible pipe.

What do I like?

The metal blower only creates a 59dB noise level that is neglectable. Especially if you are working more and busy in the cooking then you are not going to even feel that noise.

The push control buttons are so acute that you only need to put your fingertip on the buttons and the power will automatically on/off.

Another thing is a motion detector. As we have already seen all the above-listed chimneys that come with a motion detection sensor. But this one has a bit different and more accurate working.

The two LED lamps are for your further ease when you are cooking at night or dark environment. These are placed at the bottom of the chimney and they will automatically on when you start cooking.

Now let’s talk about something which is very important. The suction capacity of this chimney is 1200 m3/h which can easily handle all types of Indian cooking.

You will get a 12-year warranty on the motor which is pretty awesome.

What are the drawbacks?

The suction capacity is less than other models. However, it has a 1200 cubic meter per hour suction capacity but the baffle filter makes it slow a bit. If you want more suction then there are other options as well on this list that has even 1500 cubic meter per hour capacity.

8) Inalsa 60 cm Chimney (Cooker Hood Enya 60BKBF)

Specifications

  • Brand : Inalsa
  • Finish Type : Black
  • Material : Stainless steel
  • Mounting Type : Wall Mount
Pros
  • Price is good
  • Better suction
  • High-quality motor
  • Silent operation
Cons
  • The design is not so good
  • Takes a bit of load to operate

What do recent buyers say?

As this is the budget pick, so almost all the customers are happy due to the low price tag. In just Rs. 5000 you are going to install a chimney in your home and that’s great.

The average rating is above 4 stats. However, some users are saying that they did not receive the ducting pipe in the box.

What sets it apart from others?

If you are health conscious and you should be then this chimney is for you. There are studies that show that staying long in a smoke environment can cause serious problems.

This chimney can be your savior as it comes with a strong suction capacity of 1000 m3/hr. It quickly eliminates all the smoke and odor from your kitchen within seconds.

Most importantly, this product is from the house of Inalsa which is a very famous name in home appliances.

Another thing is motor construction. The motor of the Inalsa is made from high-quality alloy. This ensures that it is durable and long-lasting. The motor is also designed to be efficient and quiet. It uses advanced technology that allows it to operate at a high speed while still remaining silent.

The motor is also highly efficient, providing up to 85% performance. This means that it will help to keep your kitchen clean and free of smoke and other contaminants.

What do I like?

As you already read above that the motor of this chimney is perfect. So I have done a test on this chimney.

I fired up a small piece of cloth dumped in oil. I then closed all the doors and windows of the kitchen. After starting the Inalsa, I noted the time taken for the smoke to clear from the kitchen. I repeated the test 3 times and took an average.

The results showed that the Inalsa takes about 5 minutes to clear smoke from a kitchen. Thus, it can be said that the Inalsa has a good suction capacity.

For more assurance, Inalsa is giving a 5-year warranty for the motor and 1 year for the unit.

What are the drawbacks?

Everything was good, even my testing for suction capacity was also very good. However, the style and look of this chimney are a bit old-school type. There are many other options on this list that comes with sleek glass, glossy finish, and even tempered glass. But this unit has a very basic design.

Every once in a while, a product comes along that completely changes the game. The GLEN 60 cm curved glass kitchen chimney is one of those products. What sets it apart from other kitchen chimneys on the market is its unique auto-clean feature.

With an airflow of 1050m3/hr, it efficiently removes odors, smoke, and fumes from your kitchen.

The accuracy of motion sensors is remarkable. Compared to the other brands like Faber and Elica, GLEN is two-step ahead when it comes to motion sensor technology.

The reason is that they use two sets of sensors whereas other brands use only one. This ensures that the hood starts and stops automatically, even when you move around the kitchen quickly.

As far as installation goes, it is very simple and can be done by anyone with basic DIY skills. The package comes with all the necessary hardware and detailed instructions.

What do I like?

The design of course! It has a cultivated, premium look and it would be the cynosure in your kitchen.

The product is light in weight, and you can easily carry and install it by following the instruction manual.

It doesn’t produce any noise, and the suction power is quite good. The product also comes with a warranty of 2 years.

What are the drawbacks?

This chimney has everything from gesture controls to a premium look. It would be better if the suction capacity was above 1050 m3/hr.

However, this is a very small complaint considering the overall quality of the product.
